Food from the island of Zeus: a Cretan cornucopia Wednesday 19 May, 7 pm As well as being the birthplace of Zeus, Crete enjoys food traditions which connect the Cretan table to its long, illustrious past. The traditional food of Crete reflects its position at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa and its contact with the Byzantines, the Venetians, the Ottomans, the Arabs and the Greeks.
