The rustic food of Messinia

Tuesday July 13, 7 pm

Dimitra Melios presents food from Messinia, the home of Kalamata olives. The region in the south west corner of the Peloponnese is renowned for its rustic food prepared with fresh garden vegetables, tomato sauces perfumed with cinnamon and generous amounts of locally produced extra virgin olive oil. Dimitra Melios will lovingly prepare three courses of home style Messinian cooking. The food will be matched with microbrewed Craft Beer from Greece.

The traditional cuisine of Cyprus - the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite - reflects its place at the heart of the Eastern Mediterranean. Its traditional foods such as kolokasi, ravioles, koupepia, pastourma and shamisi - reflect a myriad of influences from north, south, east and west. Hellenic Republic's Travis McCauley will showcase the rich diversity of the traditional cuisine of Cyprus in a night which promises grand Levantine delights.
