2010 Lonsdale Street Glendi

Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 March. 2010
Free Street Party

For two days, Lonsdale Street explodes with music, dance, food, traditions and a few modern takes on all things Greek. Injecting life back into the original Greek Precinct, this giant street party caters for all ages, offering a plethora of activities, great food and music to suit all tastes.

The Glendi is timed to coincide with Greek National Day (25 March), enticing hundreds of people to the street after the traditional ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance.

Stages on either end of the street will host quality entertainment during the weekend, including an impressive four-hour music medley by international musicians George Xylouris, Apodimi Compania, Ta Kastoriana Halkina (a big Greek brass band) and George Hatzipetros and Mihalis Kalaitzis from Rhodes and the Dodecanese Islands. George Xylouris and Apodimi Compania are touring a number of music festivals in March, and we’re delighted to be giving Melbourne audiences an opportunity to see them for free at the Glendi.

Our headline act this year is Aggelos Dionysiou (son of the legendary Stratou Dionysiou), who will take to the main stage on the evening of Saturday 27 March.

With so much on offer, be sure to join in Melbourne’s largest celebration of all things Greek!
